Daily Update #4

So I got some decent news in work today, and then finished work a little early, but I’ve probably not done as much as I should have.  I spent a lot of today catching up on what I’ve missed this week, but tomorrow is my day off.  Which means that fingers crossed, I might get some stuff finished tomorrow.

Word of the Post: Sophist – “One who makes clever, but unsound arguments.”  I have found a word that describes me hauntingly accurately.  I’m sometimes pretty good at arguing something I have no idea about (particularly when the other person also has no idea).  I usually do it for fun though.

Info of the Post: http://zidbits.com/2012/08/do-trees-die-from-old-age/ This makes me feel bad for trees.  Which is weird, because I don’t normally care anything about trees.

News of the Post: Errrrr really tough call here.  Going to go with… http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-25766792 – So printed clothes now.  At CES they revealed a 3D printer that could print candy and chocolate shapes.  Which I really want that one.  But printing your own clothes could be pretty cool, as you “could” design your own clothes, or more likely, take someone else’s designs and print them.  There was also an article about improving sight in those going blind, but it had a video of eye surgery.  Not going near that (again).

52 Games Update: Played a fair bit of Kingdom Hearts today, although I got very distracted.  Just finished Deep Jungle, where I repeatedly messed up on White Mushrooms.  Apparently me and any kind of mushroom do not gel well.  I also met another rare monster that was a black magic teapot thing.  It splits into 5 and you have to hit the right one.  First two tries, got it.  Remaining X tries, miserable failure.  And I want a super powered Gummi Ship.  Going to try and rush through as much as I can tomorrow.

52 Books Update: Not much to say here.  I’ve read a bit more today, although I think I need to re-read the last page I read as it’s not really processed properly in my head.  It feels like he’s having 3 arguments in his head.  And confusion is winning.

52 Films Update: So I finished Drive last night.  I’m gonna make a quick post about it.  My thoughts and so on.  I do however need to choose my next film.  I’m going shopping tomorrow so I’m going to look in the dvd shops and see what recommended films I find.  If you have any recommendations, I’ll happily try anything!  This includes foreign films (Pan’s Labyrinth is probably my favourite film), although preferably something easily obtainable.  Or on Netflix.

52 Foods Update: I’ve thought about this the least.  Might try and find some sushi or something tomorrow when I’m out shopping.  Again, any recommendations for foods that you think most people haven’t tried, or just a favourite of yours (because I may not have tried it), feel free to let me know!

Daily Update #3

I’m actually halfway through my first recommended film, so I’m probably gonna rush this a tiny bit.  I’ll also do a quick post about the film I’m watching, and probably another tomorrow about my thoughts once I’ve finished it.  Update GO!

Word of the Post: Potentate – “One having greater power, especially an autocratic person” This feels like an odd word to use.  I always feel it’s weird describing someone by a particular noun, as we have a lot of associations with most of them, but this having none to me feels like a really bizarre word.  Or maybe I’m making it weird.

Info of the Post: http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2014/01/hokey-pokey/ This sounds almost made-up.  Well the ice cream bit anyway.  It probably doesn’t help that no one really knows for certain.  However, I do now want ice cream.

First News of the Post: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/25741350 So I don’t have anything against the game existing.  It’s not like there aren’t already plenty of games that are in poor taste.  But I think there need to be more restrictions on apps and the age ratings on them.

Second News of the Post: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25371014 This piqued my interest because I used to study law a little, and there were some interesting discussions back then about twins (although we talked more about conjoined twins and how the law would apply to them).  Although I’m not entirely convinced that this method will work, seeing as the article suggests they’ve only used one pair of twins for testing.

I’m starting to feel sorry for my kindle.  I had the urge to play Kingdom Hearts last night, so The Origin of Species got left alone.  In Kingdom Hearts, I’m now up to the Colosseum.  I’m actually quite happy that I beat Cloud this time, as I’m pretty sure when I played Kingdom Hearts originally, I lost.  Tragically.  Wonderland was pretty straight forward, and Traverse Town feels so familiar.  Except for the Gizmo Shop.  I did lose to Leon though.  I mean Squall.  Or do I?  I still wonder who’s idea it was to go with Leon.

Till the next post!

Daily Update #2

Day 2 didn’t really go as planned, in the sense that I’ve not really done any more in Kingdom Hearts.  Oh dear.  Everything else is moving ahead though, so here’s the update!

Word of the Post: Voluble.  It means “speaking incessantly or fluently”.  It sounds familiar, but I don’t think I’ve ever known the meaning before.  So that’s cool.

Info of the Post: http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2010/12/why-paper-cuts-hurt-so-much/ It feels like common sense, and yet now it all makes sense.  Not sure it’s going to help much, other than those tips at the bottom.

News of the Post: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25713538 This was one of those articles I almost overlooked, but I think it’s pretty interesting.  I’d never heard of this creature before, but it’s significance might be pretty big.

I have started reading The Origin of Species.  It’s a bit hard-going, but it’s definitely an interesting read so far.  Only in Chapter 1 (the introduction was better at introducing the book than most I’ve read), but I shall be reading more again tonight.

Till tomorrow!
